MILITARY:
According to an online query posted by Christine Welch Harrison, John served out of Highland County in The War of 1812, in Capt. David McCreery's unit (Col. Keys). Drafted into Ohio Militia from July 1813 to Sept. 1813; marched from Highland County to Sandusky (or Upper Sandusky), Ohio. Unconfirmed.
